Australian Lighting Installation & Buying Guide

Plan your Moroccan lighting with confidence. Before ordering, check the specifications for your exact model and size with Sahara Collection and your licensed electrician.

Electrical specifications to confirm

Ask for the rated voltage and frequency, lamp holder type, maximum lamp wattage, number of bulbs, and any driver or dimmer requirements. A voltage or socket description alone does not establish Australian compliance. Check the product label and model documentation before connection.

Australian compliance and documentation

In-scope electrical equipment must carry the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM). Relevant registration and evidence requirements depend on the equipment classification. Overseas approvals alone do not establish compliance for Australia. Request the documents applicable to the exact model before purchasing. This guide does not certify any product.

Hardwired installation and rewiring

Use a licensed electrician for hardwired lighting and electrical alterations. Do not connect or rewire a fitting yourself. Have your electrician review the fitting, documentation and installation location in advance. Replacing a cord or lamp holder alone does not demonstrate that a complete fitting complies.

Metal fittings and earthing

Brass and copper are conductive. Ask your electrician to verify the fitting's electrical protection class and earthing provisions against its construction and documentation. Do not assume that a metal fitting is double insulated or that a two-wire connection is suitable.

Suspension and installation hardware

Confirm the fitting's weight, ceiling canopy, suspension type and length, mounting bracket, fasteners, electrical kit and bulb inclusions for your order. Inclusions vary by model. Your installer should select suitable fixing methods and verify that the ceiling or wall can support the load.

Bathrooms, outdoor areas and IP ratings

Confirm a documented IP rating and suitability for the intended location before selecting lighting for a bathroom, outdoor area or damp space. Ask your electrician to assess the proposed location; decorative appearance does not establish moisture protection.

Before switching on

Have the installation checked and tested by your electrician. In Victoria, request the Certificate of Electrical Safety for electrical installation work; elsewhere, ask for the documentation required by your state or territory.
